EU Ecolabel

The EU Ecolabel is valid throughout the EU for businesses that want to prove themselves as leaders in environmental protection. The European Ecolabel is awarded for many products and services, including, since 2018, more ambitious criteria for accommodation providers such as hotels and campsites.

EU Ecolabel Criteria for Campsites
In order to receive the EU Ecolabel, campsites need to fulfil 22 specified sustainability criteria. In addition, a minimum number of 45 other criteria must be met. These include, for example, phasing out coal and the exclusive use of green electricity, the utilisation of potential savings such as LED lighting, water-saving shower heads or toilet flushes, etc.

EU Ecolabel: The EU Ecolabel was launched by the European Commission in 1992. It is awarded to products and services that have a lower environmental impact than comparable products and services. The EU Ecolabel is intended to enable consumers to identify more environmentally friendly and healthier products and services.

Nature-rich experience and environmental education

Nature-rich experience and environmental education

The project “Nature-rich experience and environmental education on camping sites in Baden-Württemberg” has set itself the goal of making guests more aware of the issue of sustainability and creating touchpoints with nature and the environment. The project is sponsored by Baden-Württemberg’s Ministry for the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector. As a camping site that is close to nature with its idyllic location right on Lake Constance, Klausenhorn received this award in November 2014. TIP: Every year, a stork family nests in a 15 metre larch tree on the Klausenhorn site, carefully looked after by a stork expert from Böhringen.
