Mr. Klapper und Mrs. StorchOur annual guests
The stork is a symbol of fertility, happiness and prosperity. In February 2011, a 15 meter larch trunk with a nest made of willow twigs was erected at the campsite and ever since a pair of storks have been regular guests at Klausenhorn. The (human) guests are delighted and the storks are cautiously monitored by stork experts from Böhringen.
Nature andenvironmental education
The goal of the project “Nature Education in Baden-Württemberg – Environmental Education at Campsites” is to sensitize guests to the topic sustainability and to create more contact to nature and the environment. One should look at nature as more than just a pretty sight. Campsite owners and their employees are trained in seminars to carry out their own programs for nature-oriented recreation activities independently. Most campsites are situated in the countryside in the middle of beautiful natural scenery. These are perfect spots to convey to interested guests why it is important to handle nature in a responsible and sustainable manner. Nature education programs allow guests to receive a new introduction to nature and the environment, to discover ecological relationships and to have a lot fun in a variety of manners. In order to reach a wide audience and to exchange experiences with others, the participating companies link up with the environmental education providers in their region.
At Klausenhorn, this project is carried out by ECOCAMPING e.V. which is partners with the Landesverband der Campingplatzunternehmen in Baden-Württemberg e.V. It is sponsored by the Ministery of the Environment, Climate Protection and the Energy Sector Baden-Württemberg.
